Overview

Form Ghana Ltd once again took part in the Government of Ghana’s Tree for Life (T4L) Initiative, a national campaign launched in 2025 to promote reforestation and restore degraded land.

For Form Ghana, this is not a one-off event tied to a launch date. Supporting the schools and farmers who live around our plantations and staying with them after planting is complete are part of how the company works throughout the year. This report records what was distributed, who received it, and what the communities told us.

Why care matters

Handing over a seedling is only the start. A tree that dies costs a farmer or a school the seedling, labour and a growing season. Cashew, mango, coconut and cocoa provide food for the household and longer-term income, so when they survive, they help families offset economic losses and ease pressure from food insecurity, poor nutrition and poverty. When they fail, those same families bear the cost.

Our effort therefore goes into survival. Form Ghana’s long-standing relationships with schools and farmers in its fringe communities make that possible.

Schools

Seedlings were donated to three schools:

  • Berekum Methodist Primary School A
  • Mpatapo M/A Primary School
  • Kutre No 1 Presbyterian Basic School.

Students were encouraged to plant and nurture the trees themselves, which gives them practical environmental education and a lasting appreciation of nature and sustainable land management.

Farmers

One hundred and twenty farmers from Ampenkrom, Domeabra and Koraso received seedlings to establish and maintain tree plantations on their farms. Eleven farmers working at Admitted Farms within the Tain II Forest Reserve also received seedlings.

The support strengthens sustainable land management and climate resilience while creating long-term economic opportunities through responsible tree cultivation.

Support after planting

The exercise included visits to participating farms. Form Ghana staff assessed planting, provided technical guidance and promoted proper seedling management to improve survival rates. We encouraged farmers and schools to plant, protect and maintain their seedlings so the benefits endure.

Community response and commitments

Beneficiary communities and farmers expressed their appreciation and satisfaction with the support provided. They commended Form Ghana for its continued efforts in community development and environmental conservation and requested that similar interventions be sustained and expanded in future.

The communities pledged to work closely with Form Ghana to protect the plantations. They committed to helping combat illegal logging and other unauthorised activities, and to prevent and control bushfires. They also stressed their willingness to collaborate in safeguarding the plantations over the long term.
