The role is ideal for individuals who are hardworking, attentive, and capable of operating machinery efficiently within forest plantation operations. Successful candidates will be responsible for supporting harvesting activities by operating bell lodger equipment safely and effectively while adhering to the company’s safety standards and operational procedures.

Operators will benefit from hands-on experience, continuous guidance from experienced supervisors, and the opportunity to work within a professional forestry environment with potential for long-term career growth within the company.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Operate the bell logger with the highest level of safety and diligence.
  2. Perform routine maintenance checks on the bell logger at the start of each workday to ensure it is safe to start the equipment and move freely to the harvesting area.
  3. Use the machine proficiently while stacking logs at the landing site.
  4. Remain attentive at all times, using hand-eye-foot coordination and multitasking skills while observing signals from colleagues.
  5. Complete daily production control and mechanical downtime sheets and submit them to the Harvesting Supervisor.
  6. Group and present timber products according to product specifications.
  7. Clean the landing/depot and, where possible, stay off the forest roads.
  8. Avoid working in designated special management zones and drainage systems.
  9. Assist with extracting trees close to the landing sites.

Eligibility: 

  • Possess a valid driver’s license E
  • Ability to work independently or with little supervision
  • A minimum of a Junior High School (JHS) certificate
  • Physically and mentally fit for the job
  • Good eyesight and depth perception
  • Dependable
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Coordination and multitasking skills
  • Good decision-making ability
  • Must have a valid NHIS card and Ghana Card
  • Must have an SSNIT number

Key competencies:

  1. Fast learner with the ability to quickly understand equipment operation and field procedures.
  2. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  3. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  4. Physically fit and capable of handling operational demands in the field.
  5. Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to operational procedures.
  6. Proactive, disciplined, and adaptable to changing work environments.
  7. Basic knowledge of operating forestry or heavy equipment is an advantage.
  8. Passionate about sustainable forestry and environmental stewardship.
  9. Basic knowledge of record-keeping and reporting is an advantage.
